L.F.C SHIRT BADGE - MID 1980'S

Similar style badge to the one which graced the shirts around the mid 80's.  I did some shirt images for someones project and this style badge appeared on the umbro shirts and the first adidas shirts.  http://liverlogos.blogspot.com/2011/05/liverpool-fc-retro-shirt-collection.html  To recreate this badge I used a small image from the internet.  As you can see from the left bird my photoshop fx are limited.

LIVERPOOL F.C - 1984 EUROPEAN CUP TICKET

Another European Cup win for the mighty reds. Great final which saw Grobelaar and his wobbly legs.
Re-created to add to some image or something like that, I can't actually remember.  It's not finished there are some small details I failed to add.  Saying that it is not far off the original. I used a scan of the original ticket stub as reference.

Liverpool F.C Club Crest 1960's

Old style Liverpool Crest of which I recreated using an old football programme as my original source.  I realise it looks like the Manchester United badge but we actually used the design first.  According to my Internet findings, Manchester United did not use this badge until the 1960's, all they did was take the Liverbird out and place the City of Manchester shield where the Bird used to be.  I have found a few match day programmes and letters from the 1940's which have this crest on them, so it was definitely used by Liverpool first.  I personally like this crest, I had a bag when I was a kid with the same image.  Unfortunately I think that many Liverpool fans would associate this style with the Mancs, so highly unlikely this would ever make an appearance again on club merchandise.  A similar style crest was actually used on the 1981 European Cup Final programme, not sure but could this of been one of the last times it was used in association with Liverpool F.C.

I had done several other versions of this crest before settling with this one, some are floating around the net, brands of the world, Liverpool forums, etc all have different Liverbirds.  This version is similar to the Liverbird used on the original. I was sent the bird image by someone who asked me to add this to the recreation rather than the bird I had done previously, if you look around you can actually see the other versions I did.  As per usual I have included the image I used to recreate the crest.

Liverpool F.C - 1981 European Cup Final Programme Crest

Just thought I better add this one to the collection.  All I did was change the Liverbird of the 60's crest I created http://liverlogos.blogspot.com/2011/05/liverpool-fc-club-crest-1960s.html  and added some colour to it.  If you roll down the blog you will see the crest on the European Cup Final programme of 1981.

Liverpool F.C - Vintage Crest 1970's

This crest was seen on the home match day programmes in the early 1970's.  During the 1970's a few different style of Liverbird had been used by the club.  I recreated this one using a matchday programme as a reference.

Liverpool F.C - European Cup Final 1984 Crests

The Liverbird crest and the Roma crest had been recreated to vamp up the 84 European Cup final poster.  I used the programme as a reference for both crests.  The Liverbird had been used prior to 1984 on various other Liverpool matchday programmes.  The size of the Liverpool crest image is quite large, it does appear a little patchy but if you require a crisp version of this crest just message me.  I have also included a revamp of the match day programme, I was reasonably happy with the way it turned out, but the font on the green section is a bit poor.

Liverpool F.C - Shankly Blazer Crest

I have very little information about this crest other than it was a blazer crest sported back in the 60's.  I have included a photo which has been signed by Tommy Smith, this photo was taken during a Liverpool F.C tour of the U.S.A in the mid 60's.  The images was sourced from www.retroreds.co.uk.  I also used a picture of Shankly in his office as reference but have misplaced this, if I find it then I will add it to the blog.

Liverpool F.C - 1980's Crest

Vintage 1980's Liverpool crest which was placed on everything possible.  It appeared on match day programmes and ticket stubs and virtually everything in the club shop and the sellers outside Anfield.

A few years ago I searched high and low for this crest on the internet with no decent results, a friend of mine wanted to get a banner going for a European night at Anfield, hence why I decided to recreate this one.  I used an old football programme for my source.  I think the programme was the f.a cup semi against Arsenal in the 80's.  When I uploaded the crest originally I didnt put the really large size version of it out on the web, so here it is.  As mentioned it was intended to be printed on to a banner so it was done large, if I remember correctly it was about 2ft tall when he had it printed.  I have included the smaller version I originally uploaded a few years ago too. If you require the original photoshop version get in touch.

Liverpool F.C - Crown Paints Crests

Liverpool F.C. "Crown Paints" logos.  These logo could be seen on almost everything in the 80's from bags to badges, from notebooks to fixture cards.  I recreated these images few years ago after trying to find a decent quality version of the logos on the net, I searched everywhere without luck and as a result if you google it now you get some these at various places around the net, you still have to look through several pages before finding one but they are out there now.  I have some more Crown Paints logos crests which I will add at a later date.  I have tried to be as accurate as possible when recreating these images but as with most of my images they do differ slightly.

Liverpool F.C - Beatles Poster - The Kopites

Liverpool "Red and White Kop" Poster - The poster is based on The Beatles "Yellow Submarine" album cover, all of the images have been changed to L.F.C related images.  If you take a look around this poster you will see images of Tom Watson www.liverpoolfc.tv/history/past-managers/tom-watson, I also added the founder of this great club John Houlding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Houlding, Houlding can be seen with a medal on his chest with the date the club was founded.  There is Emlyn Hughes, Joe Fagan, Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly in the middle section.  Next to Shankly is a man I always remember seeing in The Kop, the man was known as Dr Fun, but his real name was Lenny Campbell.  Sadly Dr Fun passed away a few years ago and whilst I never actually had the pleasure of talking to Dr Fun I did have the pleasure of witnessing him on many occassion in The Kop with his puppet singing YNWA. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0500liverpoolfc/0100news/tm_headline=anfield-s-doctor-fun-dies--aged-63&method=full&objectid=18516982&siteid=50061-name_page.html.  Also on the poster is the legendary Billy Liddell with the number 77 on his shirt.  A European Cup can be seen with the Hillsborough flame on it - YNWA http://www.hfsg.co.uk/.  The portholes on the submarine have stars on them to represent the 5 European Cup wins.

Almost all of this poster was done on the microsoft xp paint, at the time I didnt have a clue about photoshop and the likes, I still don't if I am honest.  I was fairly pleased with the results, the lines are pixalated but it was my first real attempt at a poster.

Liverpool F.C - This is Anfield Poster

The famous "This is Anfield" sign has changed over the years and this is just one of the Liverbird crests used on the sign.  I recreated this after seeing a picture of Joey Jones in the tunnel at Anfield with Bob Paisley http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/78963510/Bob-Thomas-Sports-Photography.

Liverpool F.C - 1984 European Cup Final Programme

Liverpool v AS Roma - 30th May, 1984 - Stadio Olimpico, Rome

Joe Fagan's Liverpool went to take on Roma in their own backyard.  The game ended up 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, Liverpools only goal in 90 minutes came from Phil Neal at around the 14 minute mark. Roma equalised just before half-time.  The game went into to extra but still nobody could get past solid defending from both teams.

The game went into penalties and it did not start well with Steve Nicol missing Liverpools first penalty.  Thankfully this was to be Liverpools only slip up and with the wobbly legs of Bruce Grobelaar ensuring that Graziani added to the already missed penalty of Conti, it meant that Liverpools Alan Kennedy had yet again provided the winning goal for Liverpool.

Final score: 5 - 3

The posters have been recreated using the matchday programmes.  The programme posters are not 100%.  The black one really would benefit by having a nice crisp photo of the stadium and the Roma Mia one is reasonably o.k but this also could of done with a better photo adding to it.  I have included the original match day programmes for your reference.

Liverpool F.C - 1981 European Cup Final Poster

Liverpool v Real Madrid - 27th May 1981 - Parc des Princes, Paris

Bob Paisleys 3rd European Cup win, a record which to date has not been broken.  Bob Paisley's men finally broke down the Real Madrid defence in the 82nd minute.  The goal was scored in front of over 48,000 people by Alan Kennedy.  Phil Thompson was the proud captain who lifted Liverpool's third European cup win in 5 years.  Read all about the final at http://www.lfchistory.net/Articles/Article/1135?

I used the official match day programme to recreate this poster.  I have tried to make it look like the original match day programme, however the crests are similar but not identical and the clouds are not as prominent on the recreated version.  Just for reference I have added the original image of the programme too.

Liverpool F.C - Various Cups - Canon League

Various cups and trophies I have recreated for various posters.  The Canon League trophy and the F.A Cup had been recreated to attempt the double winners logo from the 80's.  I have included the image I was going to recreate, never got it done in the end, one for the future.  I sourced the image from www.liverweb.org.uk/badge.htm.  The European cups had been done to use on a Christmas card of which I will add to the blog at some point in the future.

Liverpool F.C - RARE - 1981 European Cup Final Programme Poster

Liverpool v Real Madrid - 27th May, 1981 - Parc des Princes, Paris

Bob Paisley's men won this match by a single goal in the 82nd minute.  Alan Kennedy's left footed shot hit the back of the net to earn the red men the victory over Real Madrid.  Madrid had chances of their own to score goals, notably two spectacular chips over the great Ray Clemence by José Antonio Camacho, fortunately for Liverpool both lobs had been off target.

Bob Paisley still remains the only manager in history to take his side to three European Cup wins.  Bob Paisley the "King of Europe" - 77-78-81

I used the Real Madrid issue match day programme to create this poster.  I am led to believe that the original match day programme Real Madrid issue is quite rare and can fetch decent money in the collectors market.

As usual I have included the source image, not sure whereabouts I got this from, there is a picture of it on the www.lfcineurope.com site.  This site is very good for stats and old imagery of everything associated to Liverpool in Europe.

Liverpool F.C 1966 UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final Poster

1966 UEFA Cup Winners Cup Poster.  The poster was recreated using the front cover of the match day programme.

Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund - Hampden Park, 5th May 1966

Unfortunately Bill Shankly's Liverpool lost this final 2-1 after extra time.  The Germans took the lead in the 62nd minute with Roger Hunt equalizing 6 minutes later.  The game went into extra time with Dortmund scoring the winner in the 107th minute.

I have included the original scan of the match day programme I used as a reference for the poster.

Liverpool F.C - Old Crest Letterhead (1930's)

The image below has been recreated using an old letterhead dating back to the 1930's.  The letterhead has the "City of Liverpool" coat of arms with Triton and Neptune holding flags of the Liverbird and a ship.  I have tried to be as accurate as possible when recreating this crest, however I am not 100% sure about the wording on the motto and the translation of the motto, according to a Heraldry site it means "God has bestowed these blessings on us".

I have included the original scan of the letterhead of which I found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/soggy-semolina/3144460462/
